Young professionals host annual 1831 Gala to raise funds for local nonprofit

From its founding in 1831 to present day, Spartanburg has a long history of philanthropy. As the community continues its energizing growth, young residents support the local organizations that make Spartanburg great. This year with partnerships between United Way of the Piedmont Young Leaders, Spartanburg Young Professionals, and Junior Members of the Piedmont Club, we are pleased to announce the 4th annual edition of the 1831 Gala on January 25th, 2019 at the Piedmont Club.
The Gala improves the quality of life for Spartanburg’s young professionals by offering a unique social opportunity and empowers SYP and Young Leaders to continue Spartanburg’s long philanthropic history. Over the past three years, the event has generated $39,550 for Upstate Warrior Solution, a nonprofit organization connecting current and former members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families to local resources and opportunities.
This year the event will raise funds for a new nonprofit, Emerge Family Therapy Center & Teaching Clinic. Emerge has been a longstanding partner of United Way of the Piedmont and has demonstrated tremendous impact in the area of behavioral health. 1831 Gala grant funding will be used by EMERGE Family Therapy Center and Teaching Clinic to expand an existing high school program, Mental Wellness Resources Group, which provides students in need the opportunity to learn life skills and participate in therapeutic exercises crucial to mental health and wellness. It is implemented by EMERGE Clinical Fellows, who are Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Interns in EMERGE’s Post Degree Institute. It benefits students who oftentimes do not otherwise have access to mental health services, and provides a safe space for students, therapists, and teachers to engage.
All members of the community are encouraged to attend to support this great organization and vital community program. Tickets are on sale now and include live music, food, drink, and fun! Find all the details at https://www.1831-gala.com/
