WYFF 4’s John Humphries named General Manager of the Year

Greenville, SC—WYFF 4’s John Humphries has been named General Manager of the Year for mid-size television markets by national publication Broadcasting & Cable.

The honor acknowledges Humphries’ leadership during a difficult year for WYFF 4. Anchor/reporter Mike McCormick and photojournalist Aaron Smeltzer were killed when a tree fell on their SUV in May as they reported on Subtropical Alberto in Polk County. It also recognizes his management through “outstanding Hurricane Florence coverage” in September.

Humphries has been President and General Manager of WYFF 4 since July 2016. He held the same position from 2012-2016 at Hearst Television sister station, WGAL in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Prior to WGAL, Humphries held the position of General Sales Manager at WYFF 4. He began his TV career at WSOC in Charlotte in 1979.

Broadcasting & Cable salutes the “finest of local broadcasters” in its December 10th issue.
