Dr. Ron Fulbright, Professor at the University of South Carolina Upstate, has been invited to join the United States Technical Advisory Group (TAG), a component of the international technical committee (ISO/TC 279) whose task is to develop ISO's forthcoming standards on innovation and innovation management. The set of standards will be published as the ISO 56000 series. The innovation management standards will allow organizations to share and use best practices in creating and developing innovative ideas toward the goal of developing the capability to innovate and to bring innovations successfully to market with a high degree of certainty.
Dr. Fulbright has been teaching an innovation methodology known as I-TRIZ and innovation/intellectual property management for over 12 years in the Department of Informatics & Engineering Systems at USC Upstate. Dr. Fulbright has also won several innovation awards including the Grand Prize in the New Ideas for a New Carolina contest in 2008. Recently, the University of South Carolina Technology Commercialization Office filed a patent application for Dr. Fulbright's idea for fighting wildfires with a swarm of thousands of autonomous heavy-lift drones called "MADDS."
The ISO 56000 standards are slated to be completed in 2021.
