Native Plant Week Workday. Come out on Oct. 15th and lend a hand for Native Plants!
The South Carolina Legislature has passed a resolution that was signed into law
designating the third week of October as SC Native Plant Week. The State Parks
endeavor to promote events for the week of October 14-20 that have to do with the
importance of Native Plants in our landscapes and in nature. To that end, the
Friends of Jocassee are holding a workday at Devils Fork State Park.
We will be working to remove and eradicate invasive non-native species (like Mimosa trees & Kudzu) that are beginning to take hold and spread in the park.
Arrive at the park office on Monday, October 15th from 10am to Noon. Bring garden tools such as work gloves, pruners, and hand saws. Meet at the restroom area. You may park near the Oconee Bell trailhead.
The address is Devils Fork State Park, 161 Holcombe Circle, Salem, SC 29676. Located in northern Oconee county, follow Hwy. 11 to Jocassee Lake Road and follow the signs.
Help celebrate SC Native Plant Week!
