(Greenville, 3/30/22) – McMillan Pazdan Smith recently announced it has earned the WELL Health-Safety Rating for its Southeast-based offices through the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI). The WELL Health-Safety Rating is an evidence-based, third-party verified rating system for new and existing building and space types focusing on operational policies, maintenance protocols, stakeholder engagement and emergency plans to address a post-COVID-19 environment now and into the future.
The WELL Health-Safety Rating helped guide McMillan Pazdan Smith to standardize and further prioritize the health, safety and well-being of its staff of 290 plus visitors to its offices located throughout the Carolinas and Georgia, including Greenville and Spartanburg.
As local design and community leaders, it was important to the firm to implement new wellness initiatives in its office spaces and to become a catalyst for ongoing efforts to create people-first spaces in built environments. These include practices for re-entry in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, instilling confidence in those who come to the building from the broader community.
Chief Executive Officer Chad Cousins said, “achieving the WELL Health-Safety Rating reflects our commitment to being a resilient and caring firm and models what’s possible to others.”
In order to achieve the WELL Health-Safety Rating, the firm developed an Emergency Preparedness Plan, implementing AEDs and trained safety coordinators in each office. MPS will continue to support the firm’s robust health benefits and promote healthy initiatives through its MPS WELL program. McMillan Pazdan Smith consulted with EcoWorks Studio to support the documentation and submission for the IWBI WELL Health Safety Rating standards.
The firm hopes its actions will inspire other Upstate businesses to further elevate a corporate commitment to health, safety and well-being. McMillan Pazdan Smith is currently working with several clients who are pursuing WELL certification for new construction or the WELL Rating for existing office buildings, including United Community Bank’s new corporate headquarters under construction in Greenville, South Carolina.
McMillan Pazdan Smith was awarded the WELL Health-Safety Rating following the successful completion of a third-party documentation review by GBCI to confirm it has met the feature-specific intents and requirements.
