Deborah McKetty, former president and CEO of CommunityWorks, has been hired as United Way of Greenville County’s new Vice President for Community Impact.
McKetty, a Greenville native and long-time United Way partner through her work with the former Greenville Housing Fund and CommunityWorks, starts her new role April 8.
“Deborah’s career-long record of collaboration and innovation to improve people’s lives is beyond impressive,” said United Way of Greenville County President and CEO Meghan Barp. “Her experience, knowledge and leadership will be a tremendous asset to our team, our partners and our community.”
In 2005, McKetty spearheaded the local affordable housing study through United Way of Greenville County that resulted in the establishment of the Greenville Housing Fund (GHF). Under her leadership, GHF expanded its mission, changed its business model, and transitioned into CommunityWorks in 2012.
McKetty currently serves on the board of directors for the S.C Community Capital Alliance, SCACED, the SC Small Business Chamber of Commerce and the Greenville Chamber of Commerce Board of Advisors.
She is an alumna of Furman University’s Diversity Leadership Institute, a recipient of the Greenville Women Making History Award, a finalist for the SBA Ally Award in South Carolina, and recognized by the South Carolina Association of Community Development Corporations (SCACED) with the Eagle Award of Excellence in Community Economic Development.
McKetty previously worked as a consultant with Randolph McKetty Associates and as director of operations for the Community Investment Services Department with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta. She holds a master’s degree in urban planning from Texas Southern University and a bachelor of arts in English from the University of South Carolina.
