Epting is the practice area leader of Smith Moore Leatherwood’s Business Group. His clients call on him to obtain all types of intellectual property protection for their assets including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. He also handles the management, licensing, and when necessary, enforcement of such intellectual property through litigation and other enforcement actions.

Epting graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law and received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Clemson University. He formerly served as a patent examiner with the United States Patent and Trademark Office and member of the board of managers of the Carolina Patent, Trademark and Copyright Law Association. Additionally, he served as Lieutenant Colonel in the Judge Advocate General's Corps of the United States Air Force Reserves.
