The State of Young Professionals Today is a groundbreaking look into how employees under age 39 perceive, internalize, share, and relate in a work environment often defined by people generations older than them. The report was created after thousands of interviews with young professionals in more than 65 white-collar and blue-collar industries.

American companies spend $30.5 billion dealing with turnover in the 21-39 demographic.
65 percent of CEOs have said they can’t take on new projects because they don’t have enough young professionals.
96 percent of companies have found success attracting young professionals using smarter social media strategies.
The five key factors in staying or leaving a job are communications and expectations, meaningful work, culture, professional development, and education/training.
Flexibility is important to young professionals. To them, it means flexible hours and trust to get their job done without being micromanaged. In today's workplace, they believe technology allows them to be more productive in a hybrid-functioning role.
21% of young professionals said that compensation alone is the reason they stay or leave a company. Factors such as quality of life, mentoring, and training play major factors on career decisions.

The young professional talent working at a business today is the future of the entire workforce across all industries, Parker said. Prioritizing strategic hiring, engagement, and retention of this talent will be critical to a business's success. Without it, it can result in a lack of productivity, loss of culture, and financial loss, Parker said.
“Many of the challenges we see in the workplace come from generational tension,” Parker said. “Educating your entire team on how and why all generations (from GenZ to Baby Boomers) act the way they do in the workplace is the best way to promote self-awareness and stronger communication in your workplace.”
