GREENVILLE, SC – On Wednesday, July 26, Dr. Philip Van Hale joined the Greenville Health Authority Board of Trustees.
Dr. Philip C. Van Hale was born in Los Angeles, California but has been a resident of Greenville for over thirty years. He graduated with a BS from Loyola Marymount University in 1970 and with an MD from Vanderbilt University in 1974. He became board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology after training at LAC-USC medical center in Los Angles. He sub-specialized there in Hematopathology and was an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Southern California. He was certified in Internal Medicine and Clinical Hematology after training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota. He has an MBA from Duke’s Fuqua School of Business with a concentration on health services management. He practiced pathology at the Greenville Hospital System and was a department chair prior to its conversion to Prisma Health.
The Greenville Health Authority (GHA) is comprised of a 14-member Board of Trustees. The board is responsible for overseeing the lease agreement between the GHA Board of Trustees and Prisma Health–Upstate Board of Directors, assessing community need, and administering the Healthy Greenville and Healthy Greenville, Too grant initiatives to improve the health of the Upstate community. Rev. Stacey Mills is the Chair of the GHA Board of Trustees and Phillip Liston is the President.
