The Cliffs Announces Promotions and New Addition in the Mountain Region

TRAVELERS REST, S.C. – The Cliffs is pleased to add to its leadership team in the mountain region with the promotions of Jeff Tyrrell to operations director of both The Cliffs Valley and The Cliffs at Glassy and Jennifer Strom as clubhouse manager of The Cliffs Valley, as well as the addition of Sian Smart as the new food and beverage director of The Cliffs at Glassy. These three team members bring a wealth of experience to The Cliffs and will help elevate the member experience in both communities.

Tyrrell has been with The Cliffs for nearly three years serving as the general manager of The Cliffs Valley. Prior to that, he was the general manager at Casper Country Club in Casper, W.Y., and the director of operations at The Territory Golf & Country Club in Duncan, O.K. Tyrrell is a member of the Club Management Association of America and recently served as the regional co-chair of the Carolinas Chapter. He studied at the University of Nebraska.

Strom brings more than 15 years of hospitality experience to her new role as clubhouse manager of The Cliffs Valley. She joined The Cliffs in 2017 as food and beverage director and completed her Introductory Sommelier Course with the Court of Master Sommeliers in 2018. Prior to joining The Cliffs, she spent more than 12 years rising through the ranks in food and beverage management and service with Marriott International in both Savannah, Georgia and the Albany, New York area and spent nearly five years at the New Albany Country Club.

Born and raised in Epsom, Surrey in England, Smart comes to The Cliffs at Glassy with vast experience in the hotel and restaurant industry having served as the food and beverage director at several hotels, including the Marriot Resort & Spa in Hilton Head, Marriot Riverfront in Savannah, and most recently the Renaissance Concourse Hotel in Atlanta. A dual citizen of both England and South Africa, Smart studied in the city of Oxford at Oxford Brookes University earning her bachelor’s degree in International Tourism Management.
