Greenville, S.C. – The Barbara Stone Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on supporting visionary and creative programs for individuals with disabilities, will host a special event called ‘CAN Talks’ where six individuals with disabilities living in the Upstate share their unique stories or insights to spark new conversations, challenge outdated stereotypes and broaden perspectives.
‘CAN Talks’ will be held on October 18, 2022, from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., at Centre Stage, which is located at 501 River Street in downtown Greenville. Admission is $20, and tickets can be purchased at www.GVLCANtalks.org. Virtual tickets are also available for $10. An inclusive drum ensemble from Thrive Upstate and DRUM Percussion Studio will perform a powerful musical performance.
“The first-ever ‘Can Talks’ event held was in 2019, and we are excited about our 2022 speakers who will highlight self-advocacy, broaden perspectives about disabilities, and promote the importance of inclusion,” said Lara Ceisel, executive director of the Barbara Stone Foundation. “We have a powerful line-up of speakers, living with disabilities and passionate about breaking down barriers rooted in false assumptions.”
The Bon Secours Wellness Arena is the presenting sponsor of the 2022 ‘CAN Talks.’ Doors open at 6:00 p.m., a cocktail reception and presentation for Barbara Stone Foundation’s Fall grant winners will start at 6:15 p.m., and ‘CAN Talks’ begins at 7:00 p.m. A sign language interpreter will be available for the hearing impaired and special accommodations will be made for guests upon request.
