GREENVILLE, S.C. (Oct. 16, 2018) – Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP is pleased to announce Steven E. Farrar was selected as a member of the inaugural class of the South Carolina Lawyers Hall of Fame. The award is sponsored by South Carolina Lawyers Weekly to honor lawyers who have used their leadership and volunteerism to make a difference in their profession. Criteria for selection included career accomplishments, contributions to the profession, contributions to the development of the law, contributions to the bar and the state of South Carolina and efforts to increase access to justice
Farrar is a partner at the firm’s Greenville office. He is an experienced trial lawyer who represents businesses and business leaders in complex matters such as corporate dissolutions, charges of securities fraud and improper corporate activity, and advises and defends accounting and legal firms regarding their legal risk issues. Prior to attending law school, Farrar worked as a Certified Public Accountant for a multinational accounting firm.
Recently, Farrar served as president of the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel (FDCC), an international legal organization founded to further the principles of knowledge, justice and fellowship wherein membership is limited to select attorneys who have displayed achievement in their field and leadership in the practice of law. He is also a past president of the South Carolina Special Olympics and serves on the board of directors of Project Host Soup Kitchen.
The class will be honored at an awards luncheon on Nov. 6 in Columbia.
