SPARTANBURG, S.C. – SeamonWhiteside (SW+), a full-service site design firm throughout the Carolinas, is offering strategies to develop a workspace that promotes employee growth and personal development. These actionable tips foster an environment where employees are better supported, trained, and mentored in their careers.
Creating a workplace where growth and development are encouraged can have many short and long-term benefits for employees and the company. It can give an organization a competitive edge by increasing employee engagement and retention and strengthening innovative thinking. SeamonWhiteside understands the importance of growing its employees professionally and personally and has implemented strategies to create an environment that caters to development.
“SeamonWhiteside has a people-first work culture and understands that the company's success results from the great employees. We know that investing in the growth and progression of our employees will add value to our firm and the quality of our work,” says Jason Munday, Vice President of SeamonWhiteside. “Over the years, we have been able to promote employees from within due to our focus on employee growth and development. This is extremely beneficial in creating a loyal workforce committed to the company’s growth.”
SeamonWhiteside also believes in the importance of personal development in the workplace. “SW+ focuses its charitable resources and volunteerism on needs within the Carolinas related to wellness, education, and advocacy. All members of the SW+ team are given the opportunity and incentive to participate in a wide range of community programs,” says Jasmine Hawkins, HR Generalist at SeamonWhiteside. “We believe at SeamonWhiteside, professional development is not the only part of employee growth; we must also focus on personal development. This core value makes our company’s environment so personable and unique.”
To help companies create a workplace for employees to grow professionally and personally, SeamonWhiteside provides four actionable strategies to educate, support, and mentor its employees.
Leadership Training and Mentorship Program
This internal leadership and mentorship program was designed for SW+ Corporate Leadership members and office leaders to mentor selected employees over three months. The Leadership Program provides current and future leaders with the tools they need for growth within SeamonWhiteside.
This initiative started to bring employees together to explore new concepts and create a culture of learning and development. Every month, SW+ employees facilitate a “Lunch and Learn” program. These programs consist of speakers, seminars, and webinars to keep the workforce updated on industry advancements and help strengthen skills.
PSMJ Project Management Bootcamp
An external professional training program in the AEC industry focuses on project management. SeamonWhiteside sends several of its Project Coordinators and Project Managers to the annual conference to accelerate their career growth.
SeamonWhiteside encourages its employees to volunteer and get involved with the local community. SeamonWhiteside allows all employees to participate in a range of local programs. These programs include but are not limited to: The Green Heart Project, The American Heart Association – Heart Walk, Camp Happy Days, Habitat for Humanity, Carolina Brain Tumor Walk & Race, Roof Above, and Adopt a Stream.
