Salsa at Sunset returns for the second installment of the summer series on July 22nd, 2022, featuring live Latin music with the Marcel Portilla Band. The free public event, a program of Upstate International, is a community celebration of Latin culture. With over 800 people expected to attend each night, Camperdown Plaza on the corner of S. Main and E. Broad St. is the place to be on July 22 and August 19. Each Salsa at Sunset event will feature a live band, a free dance lesson, and hours of fun dancing. There will be a cash bar from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the three events in Greenville.
Salsa at Sunset brings together people of all ages, income levels, and cultural backgrounds around their shared interest in music and dance. The celebratory atmosphere is welcoming, and the location of Camperdown Plaza attracts passers-by with its outstanding visibility, ensuring access for everyone. For those of us unfamiliar with Salsa dancing, each of the 3 events begins with a free introductory dance lesson; everyone’s enjoyment is enhanced by having the opportunity to learn the basic steps. Salsa, as an art form, has gained international recognition and our Salsa at Sunset events will draw people from as far away as Charlotte and Charleston to downtown Greenville. The live Latin band will bring a high level of professionalism to the event, creating a uniquely energetic atmosphere for participatory dancing.
Salsa at Sunset provides an opportunity to engage in the arts and experience the joy of cultural music and dance, while at the same time encouraging different communities to participate together. Art, whether it is music, dance, painting or something else, is a universal language. Upstate International is delighted to share 3 nights of free music and dance, connecting us with our neighbors, and building a stronger, more accepting community.
