GREENVILLE, SC (October 24, 2019) – After an extensive nationwide search, the Board of Directors of Miracle Ministries has named Ryan Duerk as the organization’s new President/CEO effective January 1, 2020. Duerk will succeed current President/CEO, Reid Lehman, who will retire next year after more than 30 years of leadership.

“Ryan is a very intelligent, disciplined leader who has been an advocate for our guests both in and outside of Miracle Hill for many years, and he will continue to foster these partnerships in the future,” said Kip Miller, Board Chair. “Ryan is loved and respected by the entire Board, and we believe Ryan is the best candidate to guide Miracle Hill Ministries in this next season of serving the homeless in our community.”

The Board search committee partnered with South Carolina-based Find Great People in January 2019 to assist in the CEO search. Their desire was to select the most comprehensive candidate, analyzing each person’s qualifications against eight strategic competencies (such as business intelligence, community awareness, and Christian leadership) selected by both Miracle Hill employees and Board members.

Duerk has served with Miracle Hill for 11 years in various capacities, most recently as VP of Adult Ministries overseeing the organization’s homeless shelters and addiction recovery facilities. He holds an MBA from Anderson University, a BS in Experimental Psychology from USC Upstate, and is a Board-Certified counselor through the American Association of Christian Counselors. He is currently serving as Chair of the Greenville Homeless Alliance, a community partnership working to make homelessness brief and rare.

“The Greenville Homeless Alliance is thrilled to have Ryan Duerk named as the next President/CEO of Miracle Hill Ministries. He is a fierce advocate for the most vulnerable men, women and children in our community,” said Susan McLarty, Greenville Homeless Alliance Coordinator.

In affirmation of the Board’s choice, Lehman said, “I'm blessed that Miracle Hill's new CEO has come from within our ranks. He is the right leader for Miracle Hill’s next chapter. Ryan's giftings and growth in leadership have been evident for some time. His commitment to God and to our guests is strong. I look forward with anticipation to ‘passing the baton’ and to his leadership.”

In addition to his professional skills, Duerk’s personal story of overcoming addiction has helped to develop his sensitivity to people who are hurting and needing support. His awareness of the needs of Miracle Hill’s guests informs his decision-making and fuels his passion to see lives restored and set free through Jesus Christ.

“Serving the lost, hurting and homeless is one of the greatest passions of my life. Although the Upstate has a great collaborative breadth of service providers, the work is not done, and I look forward to helping Miracle Hill continue to lead in the efforts to be a friend to those who can’t find one anywhere else,” said Duerk.
