Reedy River Duck Derby Announces Event Activities

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Organizers of the 2019 Duck Derby announced a fun-filled lineup today.

While the event is known for the 10,000 little ducks that float over the Reedy River falls to help local charities, the Rotary Club of the Reedy River Greenville, also hosts an all-day celebration featuring live music from local artists, drum demonstrations, games, activities for children and more.

“The event is going to be filled with fun activities for people of all ages,” said Jessica St. Clair Smith, president of the Rotary Club of the Reedy River Greenville. “As always, we’ll have live music and entertainment, games for children and interactive booths. We’ve added some new elements this year such as Old World Festival’s interactive drummers and Chicora Singers which involve the community even more and we are all very excited about that.”

This year’s event, which is called the official unofficial kick-off to summer in Greenville, will be on Saturday, May 4 with the following schedule:

10:30 a.m. -- Stone Singers and Chicora Voices
● Hear the quality musical instruction in the choral setting from the Chicora Voices and the Stone Singers
11:15 a.m. -- Darby Wilcox and The Peep Show
● Musician Darby Wilcox and her band The Peep Show performs folk style music
12:30 p.m. – Our World Festival: Interactive Drumming
1-1:45 p.m. – Hat Contest
● Show off your most creative duck-themed hats for a chance to win cash prizes
1:45-2:20 p.m. – Our World Festival
2:20-2:50 p.m. - The Reedy River Duck Derby
2:50-3:20 p.m. – Our World Festival: Dancers and Duck Strut
● After the race, enjoy live performances as well as the Duck Strut, a line dance created specifically for the Duck Derby
3:20-3:35 p.m. – Winners of the hat contest announced
3:35-3:50 p.m. – Winners of the Duck Derby Announced
3:50-4 p.m. – Our World Festival

The grand prize for the Derby is a year’s worth of Publix groceries and a chance to win one million dollars. The second prize is $2500 from the Rotary Club of the Reedy River Greenville and third prize is a golf weekend at Embassy Suites by Hilton on Verdae.

About the Duck Derby:
The Rotary Club of the Reedy River Greenville, a service organization of local business men and women, holds the Reedy River Duck Derby annually as its primary fundraiser. This is the 15th consecutive year that the group has organized this charitable fundraiser.
