The Greater Greer Education Foundation was created in 2009 when the Executive Board of the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce voted to create a not-for-profit 501 C (3) with a focus on Education. Margaret Burch, an education advocate who served the Greer area on the Greenville County School Board for 20 years, was asked to serve as the first Executive Director. In 2011 she was elected chairman of the Board, a position she held until 2015. Through Margaret’s leadership, the Foundation serves 27 schools in Greenville and Spartanburg Counties. Each year, the Foundation gives nearly $20,000 in grants and scholarships to students and teaches advancing education either through the classroom or continuing education.
