NHFHS to Hold National Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day Observance

As we approach the first day of winter and the longest night of the year, New Horizon Family Health Services (NHFHS) will be holding a National Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day Observance to commemorate the lives of NHFHS’ Health Care for the Homeless (HCH) Program patients who died in 2022.

Join us on Facebook on Wednesday, December 21 at 5:00 pm as NHFHS’ HCH Program team and community partners remember and honor our patients who passed away in 2022 while experiencing homelessness.

The livestream event will be broadcast at www.facebook.com/QualityHealthCareForAllPeople and include a brief program. Luminaries will be lit in remembrance of each patient followed by a moment of silence to honor these individuals lost.

About NHFHS’ Health Care for the Homeless (HCH) Program

NHFHS’ HCH program serves over 3,600 patients experiencing homelessness each year in 13 counties using a 35-foot mobile medical unit at strategic collaborative partner agency locations. The program provides primary medical care, dental and behavioral health services and access to prescription medications.

NHFHS also operates South Carolina’s first-ever in-shelter Medical Respite Care Program to provide a safe place for those experiencing homelessness to rest, recover and receive medical support after discharge from the hospital. Through a partnership with Miracle Hill Ministries, the Medical Respite Care Program continues to be the only service of its kind in the state and is offered at the Greenville Rescue Mission and Shepherd’s Gate shelters.

Since 1992, NHFHS has been serving Greenville County and Upstate South Carolina and operates medical offices in Greenville, Greer and Travelers Rest, a dental office in Greenville, two mobile medical units and a mobile dental unit. NHFHS provides primary medical, dental and behavioral health care, pharmacy and laboratory services to nearly 23,000 patients annually. The mission of NHFHS is to provide quality, affordable, compassionate patient-centered health care to improve the health of the communities we serve.
