Tigerville, SC (April 5, 2021) North Greenville University (NGU), and Spartanburg Christian Academy (SCA) have agreed to provide dual credit beginning the 2021-22 academic year according to the terms outlined in a memorandum of agreement.

The NGU College High School Dual Credit Program is designed to provide college credit to qualified secondary students before their high school graduation. All courses offered through dual credit will be taught on SCA’s Campus and compare to course content, course prerequisites, student expectations, and student learning outcomes to the equivalent on-campus course.

“I’m grateful for Spartanburg Christian Academy and excited about the opportunity for us to partner together to educate young men and women to be transformational leaders for church and society,” said NGU Provost and Dean of the University Faculty Dr. Nathan A. Finn.

Dual credit will be transcripted by NGU as full college credit, transferable to other colleges and universities according to their individual policies regarding such credit. Students must meet all admission and registration requirements, satisfy all tuition and fee obligations, and complete the course to receive college credit from NGU.

“We are excited to see where God takes this new relationship. Getting college credit while in high school is like getting catapulted into your future—it’s a thrill. I’m eager to see SCA students landing in their purpose,” said Vice President for Enrollment & Marketing/Communications Michael White. “North Greenville takes everyday higher education and makes it powerful.”

Students in good standing in grades 11 and 12 with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale are eligible to apply. There is a $25 non-refundable application fee, and the cost is $100 per credit hour.

“Spartanburg Christian Academy and NGU have a rich history. Many of our graduates have gone on to further their education at such a fine institution,” said SCA Headmaster Rob McDonald. “This Dual Credit partnership will allow SCA to continue to provide quality, engaging, and relevant curriculum while adhering to our vision to share the gospel on a daily basis. We are very excited about this next chapter.”

According to the agreement, NGU, consistent with regional accreditation requirements, will be solely responsible for the institutional and academic oversight of all courses offered through the NGU College High School Dual Credit Program, including appropriate accreditation.

For Fall 2021, NGU will provide Spanish I, Oral Communication (Speech), Environmental Science/Lab, and College Algebra.
