Tigerville, SC (September 5, 2019) North Greenville University (NGU) is launching its Christian Professional Women’s Network: Take Off the Cape Series for 2019-2020. The Christian Professional Women's Network (CPWN) is a roundtable event for Christian women working in the business and professional world to grow professionally and spiritually; glorifying our Lord, Christ Jesus, through and in their professional lives.

Ava Smith, owner of Ava Smith & Associates, will introduce the topic “Manage Work, Lead People” at a Christian Professional Women's Roundtable held at NGU's Greer Campus on Thursday, Sept. 12.
The first event will take place Thursday, September 12 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on NGU’s Greer Campus at 405 Lancaster Avenue in Greer. Ava Smith, owner of Ava Smith & Associates, will introduce the topic “Manage Work, Lead People.”
Smith, a human resource leader and diversity practitioner in the Upstate of South Carolina, has over 20 years of experience as a human resources professional. Her experience includes employee relations, compliance, recruitment, retention, and training. She began her career in the non-profit sector, and shifted into manufacturing, the corporate arena, and staffing. She progressively moved upward in her positions, serving a range of roles from HR Assistant to serving as an HR Director.
In August, 2002, Smith began her firm, HR Specialties, specializing in providing HR services, training, and recruiting. In 2010, she formed a permanent placement agency called Flat Fee Recruiting, recognized in business publications. Flat Fee Recruiting received the Minority Business of the Year Award in 2013 through the Greenville Chamber of Commerce and Smith was the recipient of the 2015 Excellence in Diversity Award given by the Greenville SC Chapter of SHRM.
Smith is also a noted diversity trainer. She has delivered hundreds of sessions throughout the Southeast since 2005. Clients have included corporations, manufacturers, non-profits, service organizations, government officials, municipalities, universities, hospital systems, local chambers, and faith-based organizations.
The second CPWN Take Off The Cape roundtable topic will be “Play Well With Others” scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 19 with Julie Brown, president of Godshall Recruiting and Staffing.
