New Horizon Family Health Services Celebrates National Health Center Week

New Horizon Family Health Services (NHFHS) is recognizing National Health Center Week (NHCW) this August 7-13. The week-long celebration is part of a national campaign to recognize the vital role that health centers play in providing health care access to our communities.

As the nation’s largest primary care provider, health centers are the safety net for nearly 30 million people offering comprehensive primary care to individuals regardless of their insurance status.

In the Upstate, NHFHS has been improving the health of the communities we serve since 1992. Nearly 23,000 individuals rely on our organization each year to access a variety of services including primary medical, dental, behavioral health, pharmacy and laboratory services regardless of their insurance status. NHFHS’ Health Care for the Homeless Program and Ryan White Program serve over 3,600 patients in 13 counties and over 1,200 patients in 10 counties, respectively.

NHFHS also operates South Carolina’s first-ever in-shelter Medical Respite Care Program to provide a safe place for those experiencing homelessness to rest, recover and receive medical support after discharge from the hospital. Through a partnership with Miracle Hill Ministries, the Medical Respite Care Program continues to be the only service of its kind in the state and is offered at the Greenville Rescue Mission and Shepherd’s Gate shelters.
