The Upper South Carolina Council of the Navy League is pleased to announce that US Coast Guard Captain Jeffrey K. Randall will be the guest speaker at its March 18, 2020, dinner program at the Poinsett Club in Greenville, SC.
CAPT Randall is the Commanding Officer of the USCG Cutter JAMES and will talk about the Coast Guard mission and JAMES operations. JAMES was commissioned in Boston on August 8, 2015 and is the fifth Legend-class National Security Cutter, the largest and most technically advanced class of cutter in the Coast Guard, with robust capabilities for maritime homeland security, law enforcement and national defense missions. Last October, JAMES returned to Charleston following a 62-day counter-drug patrol in the eastern Pacific Ocean, interdicting seven drug-smuggling vessels with more than 9,000 pounds of cocaine and 4,085 pounds of marijuana bound for the United States. JAMES also served as Commander of Task Force Bahamas in the wake of Hurricane Dorian.
