Mary Black Health System Names Employee of the Year

Spartanburg, SC- Mary Black Health System-Spartanburg has named Cynthia Mendes as the 2017 Employee of the Year. This award is the highest honor bestowed on a Mary Black employee each year. Mendes was chosen from hundreds of employees for the honor. Employees are nominated for the award by their hospital peers based on their commitment to patient care, their professionalism, and their contributions on the job.

“Providing the highest quality care to our patients is a top priority of everyone at Mary Black,” said Sean Dardeau, Market CEO. “Each month we select outstanding employees to recognize for representing the characteristics and qualities we promote in our organization. At the end of each year we have a group of employees who have demonstrated the hospital’s patient-centered culture. From that standout group, the employees selected Cynthia Mendes as Employee of the Year for her dedication to our patients and the support she provides to her team members.”

Mendes works as the Patient Access Supervisor in the ER and manages approximately twenty people. A fellow employee says, “Cindy is always willing to help and answers questions with a positive attitude. She is the ‘go-to’ person for whatever is needed and addresses employee concerns in a timely and professional manner.”

“Our success in caring for our community depends on our dedicated employees, like Cynthia Mendes” said Dardeau. “It is truly a pleasure to recognize our employees who set an example for each of us by raising the bar to meet and exceed the needs of all of our patients and their families.”

Mark Herron, Director of Facilities, was selected as the Non-clinical Manager of the Year. Vicky Tabbot, Director of Case Management, was selected as the Clinical Manager of the Year.
