GREENVILLE, S.C. – Locally Epic, the mobile platform company that allows users better access to local business discounts, is hosting the Greenville Duck Derby Hat Contest on Saturday, May 4, 2019.
Sponsored by the Rotary Club of the Reedy River, the annual Duck Derby sends more than 10,000 rubber ducks down the river as a fundraising event for local charities around the Upstate. Individuals have to opportunity to sponsor a duck, and participant’s ducks that make it over the falls and through a chute at the bottom could win free groceries for a year.
“The Duck Derby has become a huge success over the past few years and we always love adding new elements to keep it fun and fresh,” said Wendy Green, president-elect of the Reedy River Rotary Club. With the hat contest going so well last year, we thought why not bring it back?”
Attendees are encouraged to decorate and wear duck-themed hats to the derby. A panel of local celebrity judges will review the hats, and contest winners will be eligible for prizes.
“We are excited to bring back the hat competition for the second year,” said Chase Michaels, CEO of Locally Epic. “The competition was close last year and everyone really put a lot of creativity into the hats so we are excited to see what people come up with this year.”
