Greer, S.C. – January 21, 2020 – Leadership Greer Class 40 has announced plans to pursue funding for construction of a new tiny house in partnership with Daily Bread Ministry’s STEP program to provide a Home for the Homeless.
“We are excited to be partnering with Daily Bread Ministries for our class project this year. With your donation, we will be building a tiny home to support the Shelter to Empower People (STEP) program helping to give a homeless member of our community shelter and support,” said Class 40 president Mindi Calvert.
STEP provides shelter and support in a structured 90-day program conducted by trained counselors working under a licensed mental health professional. To enter the program, individuals and/or families must be homeless, have a strong desire to not be homeless, and be recommended by an appointed commission made up of volunteer mental health professionals, licensed clergy, and the director of operations. With your donation and support, we can help Daily Bread Ministries and the Greer Soup Kitchen in their efforts to minimize homelessness and better our community.
Leadership Greer Class 40 needs help raising funds for this project. The class aims to raise $20,000 to cover the costs of the home, fencing, furnishings, and utilities. Projected groundbreaking on the project was the first week of February and is scheduled to be completed by the end of April.
For more information on how to donate and/or sponsor the project, please contact the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce at (864) 877-3131.
