Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd shareholder Kathy McKinney was presented with the Honorary Alumni Award from Furman University during their annual Bell Tower Ball on Saturday, February 24.
This award recognizes individuals who are not graduates of Furman but who have made significant contributions to its welfare, reputations, prestige and pursuit of excellence. Kathy joined the Furman University Board of Trustees in 2002 and served as chair from 2008 to 2010. She also led the President’s Advisory Council and served on the “Because Furman Matters” Campaign Executive Committee.
Kathy’s practice focuses on public and nonprofit finance, governmental organizations, corporate governance and economic development. Active in the Greenville community, Kathy serves as immediate past chair of the South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities Board of Trustees, on the Leadership South Carolina Advisory Committee, as a past chair of the National Associations of Bond Lawyers, on the Federal Home Loan Banks Office of Finance Board of Directors and is a founding member of the Upstate SC Alliance.
