Joe’s Place now offering Upstate-made Wine Sticks

GREENVILLE, S.C. – People looking to add some flavor to their wine purchases now have a new option from Joe’s Place downtown.

The cozy bookstore and wine bar has added Wine Sticks, which are delectable treats crafted to pair perfectly with an assortment of wines and other beverages. Conceived in the Anderson-based bakery The Sweetery, Wine Sticks are preservative free and designed to flavor and blend with their drink without easily crumbling when dipped.

Located at 2 Williams Street in the Pettigru District of the award-winning downtown Greenville, Joe’s Place is known for its collection of rare, used and new books. However, the two-story location has built a unique ambience around the artwork adorning the walls; its baked goods and monthly events ranging from trivia nights to wine tastings to book clubs.

A growing part of the Joe’s Place experience is wine. Mary Bernard, one of the owners of Joe’s Place, said the bookstore is proud to be known for the eclectic experience that coffee and wine lovers receive when they venture inside. Joe’s Place is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and can also host special events.

“We love to work with local vendors,” Bernard said. “And the Wine Sticks idea was something we thought would be the perfect complement to our wine selection.”

The Wine Sticks concept evolved from The Sweetery’s team going to different food events and seeing the excitement over drinking great wine. Ryan Jarahian, co-owner of The Sweetery, decided to create a food that could enhance that experience.
“We are honored to be working with Joe’s Place,” Jarahian said. “We know their unique wine pairings will go well with Wine Sticks.”
