Jay Self is the newly elected chair of the board of trustees of The Self Family Foundation

W. M. (Mat) Self announces the election of J. C. (Jay) Self as Chairman of the board of trustees of The Self Family Foundation. The election was held at the annual meeting of the board of trustees held on December 16, 2017. Other officers elected were Sally E. Self, M.D., Vice Chair, Cade Brennan Jackson, Secretary and W. M. (Bubba) Self, Jr., Treasurer.
Mr. Self is President and CEO of GMI Holding, the parent company of Greenwood Mills, Inc., Greenwood Development, and Greenwood Communities and Resorts. He is a native of Greenwood. Jay is a graduate of Clemson University and earned his MBA from the University of South Carolina. He is a graduate of Leadership Greenwood and is a Liberty Fellow. Jay is a former member of the SC Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and the Greenwood Family YMCA Board of Directors. He is a board member of the National Council of Textile Organizations, where he is a past chairman and serves on the executive committee, the board of the Southern Textile Association, where he is a past chair, and is a member of the Palmetto Business Forum. Jay has two sons, Jimmy and Mack.

The Self Family Foundation was established in 1942. To date it has granted over $67 million to organizations and institutions throughout South Carolina.
