Homes of Hope is excited to welcome three new members to its Board of Directors. These Board members bring a depth of experience, knowledge, diversity and passion to the local non-profit. “We are super excited about the positive direction of our Board, especially in the midst of greater need than ever before, and also our determination to ramp-up production to meet that need,” says Don Oglesby, Homes of Hope CEO. The three new members are Mario Brown, Travis Wharton and James Jordon.
Mario Brown is currently the VP of Sales and Marketing at Milestone Custom Homes. As an advocate for affordable housing in the Upstate, he co-founded Affordable Upstate, a small real estate investment firm that redevelops energy efficient, multi-family apartment units.
“Mario is a professional who truly invests his work life and resources to achieve community impact in the area of affordable housing,” says Oglesby. “What better fit for the Homes of Hope board than someone already doing the work?”
James Jordon is currently the President at JCC General Contractors. Since 1999, Jordon has proven to be a successful businessman and entrepreneur, founding Dynasty Real Estate and Investments, co-founded Wisconsin Amusement Concepts and also Dynasty Food Group.
“James’s professional experience, along with his passion for our mission and vision uniquely qualify him to be an immediate great asset to the Homes of Hope board, and to our pursuit of excellence in achieving the goals of the organization,” says Oglesby.
Travis Wharton is currently the Economic Mobility Manager at United Way of Greenville County. Wharton began his professional career in the educational field, serving as principal at both Mitchell Road Christian Academy and NEXT High School. He has a deep connection to the Upstate community and growing awareness of the economic, educational and political disparities of people of color.
“Travis gives us a work/life experience and perspective that can build our board’s capacity and help us achieve even greater success. And his expertise in the area of economic mobility is a perfect fit for our mission and vision,” says Oglesby.
