Hill Electric Celebrates 65 Years in Business

ANDERSON, S.C.¬– For 65 years and counting, Hill Electric has served the Upstate of South Carolina and beyond with trusted, first-in-class electrical contracting services. Hill Electric believes in building long-lasting partnerships while upholding the highest standards of excellence in their field of service.

Their story began when the company was founded in 1954 by Walter Hill. After years of working as an operator at the historic Portman Shoals Power Plant in Townville, SC, Hill decided to go off on his own and put his roots down in “Electric City”– Anderson, SC. Anderson became the first Southern city to channel electricity through long-distance cables from hydroelectric power plant, making this an ideal place for Hill to settle and establish his own electric company.

As the Upstate of South Carolina continued to grow, it proved promising for Hill, creating a greater need for reliable industrial electrical contractors. During the 1950s, the textile industry was booming, and Hill continued to hone his expertise to meet the electrical needs of nearby textile mills. As the local area expanded and the economy shifted, Hill Electric grew internally and expanded services to the automotive and paper mill industries. Through the years, Hill Electric has grown to be a key service provider for power industrial buildings in the plastics, healthcare, and pharmaceutical industries.

As Hill Electric’s customer base and service footprint grew, it became necessary to expand its team, and Mike Davis was hired in 1994 as a Project Manager. In 2001, he was promoted to Vice President and Senior Partner, and today he is our President and Senior Partner.

“Having worked at Hill Electric Company for more than twenty years, I am grateful to currently serve as President and Senior Partner. In everything I do, my focus is to continue the legacy Walter Hill began 65 years ago, and to reach and celebrate our 100-year anniversary and beyond,” said Mike Davis.

“Though the industries we work in have grown and changed, and technology has advanced, our values have remained the same. We truly value our partnerships, respect our employees, and prioritize safety. Hill Electric has built a legacy of community and customer partnerships, employee loyalty, and expertise, and we hope and plan to continue building the legacy for years to come,” Davis concluded.
