Heather Simmons Jones, president and CEO of Greenwood Partnership Alliance, was presented the Bank of Travelers Rest Community Champion Award this week during the inaugural Women of Influence event, presented by GSA Business Report and Michelin.
The event, honoring 25 Upstate business women for outstanding work in their various professions, was broadcast on the GSA Business Report Youtube channel at noon Tuesday. Originally planned as a live luncheon, the ceremony was moved online because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The ceremony can be seen at https://bit.ly/GSA2020WOIvirtualevent.
The 25 honorees were chosen from nominations submitted by GSA Business Report readers. A committee picked the nominees who best demonstrated uncommon success in business and a commitment to giving back to their communities.
“From that list of 25 women, the committee then looked to see who may be going over and above a group of already exceptional women, and they chose Heather Simmons Jones as the champion,” said Rick Jenkins, publisher of GSA Business Report. “By all accounts she is very good at what she does for the Greenwood Partnership Alliance, and the list of organizations she serves is impressive.”
That list includes serving on the board of directors for Ten at the Top, the Clemson University Board of Visitors, the SCBio executive committee, and the board of trustees for SCRA, formerly known as the S.C. Research Authority.
In addition to Michelin, sponsoring organizations include USS, Drum Creative, Bank of Travelers Rest, the Greenville Chamber, the city of Mauldin and Crawford Strategy. Communications strategist Addie Sheek of Crawford Strategy served as the co-emcee for the event, along with Jenkins.
