GREENVILLE, SC – September 8, 2021 – For Hunger Action Month® this September, Harvest Hope will join Feeding America and other network member food banks to inspire people to take action and raise awareness of people facing the impossible choice of hunger. Food banks around the country are working to make a real and lasting impact on food insecurity in their communities, and they are asking for the public’s support.
September marks the 14th year Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization with a nationwide network of 200 food banks, including Harvest Hope, and 60,000 partner food pantries and meal programs, has organized the annual call to action. This year’s campaign presents the impossible choices that millions of Americans must make between food and other basic needs.
“Hunger Action Month is a time to celebrate how far we’ve come in the fight against hunger and continue to inspire others to get involved,” says Erinn Rowe, Harvest Hope CEO. “No action is too small and together we can build a hunger-free tomorrow across South Carolina.”
During the month of September, people across the Upstate can get involved in the movement by learning, committing, and speaking up about ways to ending hunger.

About Harvest Hope
Harvest Hope is building a hunger-free tomorrow in 20 counties across South Carolina, including the Midlands. Rescuing food from stores that is at risk of being discarded, as well as sourcing food from the community and producers, they distribute it to local food pantries and through feeding programs. Programs provide food for some of SC’s most vulnerable citizens – children, seniors, and rural residents who don’t have access to reliable transportation to grocery stores. Annually, Harvest Hope provides over 22 million meals to neighbors in need across their service area.
