Cottage design by Hartness’ Town Designer Lew Oliver honored with a gold award in the 2020 Best in American Living™ Awards
Greenville, SC –Hartness, a new 444-acre urban village founded by the Hartness family and located on Greenville’s Eastside, is pleased to announce that the Jasmine Cottage by Town Designer Lew Oliver and crafted by Hartness Construction has won a gold award for a single-family custom home in the 2020 Best in American Living™ Awards (BALA) by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).
“We are thrilled that the Jasmine Cottage designed by the immensely talented Lew Oliver has been honored by the NAHB’s Best in American Living Awards,” said Sean Hartness, CEO of Hartness Development and Hartness Construction. “We are extremely proud of the home, which showcases a brilliant design and superior craftmanship. The cottage style also perfectly complements Hartness’ diverse and unique offerings.”
The Jasmine Cottage is truly the perfect home for “right-sizing” and the judges praised the cottage’s quaint and charming plan, as well as its exterior. The 1,000 square foot luxurious home features cedar plank siding and a genuine cedar shake roof to authentically evoke the English Vernacular style. The design boasts a spacious ceiling over the living space, two bedrooms, and two baths with the master on the main floor. Outside is a beautifully hardscaped two-car parking area and intimate outdoor living space for entertaining and dining. The Jasmine Cottage was built by Hartness Construction and features an interior design by ID Studio Interiors and a landscape design by Byington Landscape Architect, PLLC.
“This year’s BALA winners continue on the rich tradition of exceptional residential home design,” said David O’Sullivan, principal of O’Sullivan Architects in Reading, Mass., NAHB’s 2020 Judging Chair and 2020 Best in American Living Awards Subcommittee Chair. “These winners are truly forward-thinking and some of the most talented professionals in their respective fields.”
Now in its 37th year, BALA recognizes outstanding achievement by builders and design professionals in all sectors of the residential housing industry including single-family production, custom, multifamily, affordable, remodeling, community and interiors. BALA is built on the principle that all great homes start with great design, no matter cost or size. Award winners were formally announced during an online ceremony on Feb. 25, 2021.
