Habitat for Humanity raises $50,000 at 2nd annual Joe Barron Golf Classic

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Habitat for Humanity Greenville County raised $50,000 at their second annual Joe Barron Golf Classic fundraiser on April 12 at the Green Valley Country Club.

The “Captain’s Choice” tournament included 29 teams and a total of 116 golfers who played to raise funds for Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County’s homeownership program. Tournament proceeds will support the organization’s ongoing mission of building affordable homes for families in the Greenville community.

The tournament, which was named in honor of Joe Barron, Habitat Greenville’s founder, was hosted in partnership with American Institute of Architecture Greenville chapter. A variety of local businesses supported the event, with Michael’s Janitorial & Floor Service and Spectrum Interiors of SC, Inc. as the main sponsors.


Tournament participants were bound to be hungry and thirsty after a long day on the course, and a variety of businesses stepped up to the plate to provide food and drink. The 19th Hole Party sponsor was Henry’s Smokehouse, and Jason’s Deli catered the provided lunch for participants. The Walmart Neighborhood Market provided snacks, and Ingles Market donated water for the tournament.

The winning teams were Mavin Construction, 1st place, and AFL, 2nd place.
