SPARTANBURG, S.C. (July 17, 2019) – Guy Roofing, one of the nation’s top 20 roofing contractors, provided free labor to install a new roof for a Rock Hill veteran as part of the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project. The installation took place on Friday, July 12.
The project is part of a nationwide effort to show gratitude and honor veterans who served our country and the families who support them.
“Our veterans and their families have made incredible sacrifices for our country,” said Jeff Guy, Vice President, Guy Roofing, Inc. “Taking part in projects like this one is our way of saying ‘thank you for your service.’”
“We are proudly committed to supporting and making a difference in our community,” said Kelli Gosnell, Director of Marketing at Guy Roofing Inc. “We want to do our part to make it a better place and there’s no more satisfying way to do that than by lending a helping hand to a veteran and his family who need it.”
David Salas, a United States Army Reserve veteran, was selected and approved for the roof replacement through a partnership between Owens Corning and Habitat for Humanity of York County.
“Veterans need to know how much we recognize and appreciate their sacrifices," said Tim Veeck, Executive Director/CEO at Habitat for Humanity of York County. “It’s inspiring to see local organizations come together to give back to Mr. Salas through the Roof Deployment Project, and we’re proud to be a part of it.”
As an independent Owens Corning Platinum Contractor, Guy Roofing provided the labor and installation expertise. Owens Corning, with support from the Owens Corning Foundation, donated the roofing materials. Since its inception in 2016, the project has provided new roofs for more than 130 military members nationwide.
