Greenville Technical College’s SACSCOC Accreditation is Reaffirmed

Greenville Technical College (GTC) is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate and baccalaureate degrees. The college was recently reaffirmed for accreditation for a ten-year period, the maximum time period that can be granted.

The reaffirmation process is thorough, beginning with a rigorous self-examination and including both off-site and on-site reviews. Accreditation ensures that GTC has a mission appropriate to higher education along with the resources, programs, and services needed to accomplish and sustain that mission. It also signifies that the college maintains specified educational objectives consistent with its mission and demonstrates success in meeting them.

Accreditation by SACSCOC, which GTC has maintained since 1968, allows students who begin their education at the institution and take approved courses to transfer credits to other regionally accredited colleges. Employers can also feel confident about the quality of education received by job candidates listing Greenville Technical College on their resumes. In addition, SACSCOC accreditation allows GTC to maintain eligibility for state and federal funds, including student financial aid through the U. S. Department of Education.

“Achieving this milestone is a reflection of a college-wide emphasis on continuous improvement,” said Dr. Keith Miller, president of Greenville Technical College. “We appreciate the comprehensive nature of the reaccreditation process and the opportunities it presents for progress.”
