Greenville Private Christian Schools Unite To Form New Academy
Greenville, SC - Wise people have said "collaboration is far more powerful than competition." Two of the oldest private, Christian schools in Greenville have truly embraced this concept, as they announce a surprising move for the 2019-2020 school year.
The Boards of Trustees of First Presbyterian Academy and Shannon Forest Christian School are pleased to announce the formation of a new premier, college preparatory school to serve the growing population of Greenville, South Carolina and the surrounding areas. The new school will operate under the title of First Presbyterian Academy, Inc. and will open in the fall of 2019 featuring two campuses: The Academy Downtown and The Academy at Shannon Forest.
Richard Gibbons, senior pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Greenville, commented that the union will extend the impact of emphasizing Christian values and standards into our community. "It will continue the goal of securing a spiritual home for more of Greenville through life-giving and life-affirming ministries," Gibbons said. "As we grow and mature in our faith, we want to impact the culture of the city and beyond. This is an excellent step forward in that process."
The Academy Downtown, located at the campus of First Presbyterian Church on West Washington Street in downtown Greenville, will house the highly regarded Preschool Program that was founded in 1952. The program will include K2, K3, K4, K5 and a transitional K6 class.
The Academy at Shannon Forest will continue to offer the fully-accredited, college-preparatory program for students in K3 - 12th Grade that has served the community for 50 years. The 15-acre campus is located on Garlington Road in Greenville.
The unification of these two strong schools promises to provide students of all ages a nurturing environment with rigorous academics taught through a Christian worldview, preparing every child for a future of academic excellence and Christian service.
