GREENVILLE, S.C.—The Furman Faculty Chamber Music Series will present a concert Friday, Feb. 1, at 8 p.m. in Daniel Recital Hall on campus. Following the recital in the DuPre Rhame Foyer, guests will have an opportunity to meet the performers at a reception hosted by the sisters of Sigma Alpha Iota.
The Sound Quality Series event is open to the public and is presented by the Furman Department of Music. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors, and $5 for students.
The second concert of Furman’s 2018-19 Faculty Chamber Music Series, the event features more than a dozen faculty performers who will present a diverse range of music by various composers.
Starting with a rhythmical piece for cello and percussion by South Carolina-born composer Andy Akiho, the program continues with the tuneful Suite for Oboe, Clarinet, and Viola by Randall Thompson; the virtuosic Sonata for Violin and Cello by Maurice Ravel; “Blue Mountain Ballads” by Paul Bowles; and two jazz tunes written by Furman saxophone professor Matt Olson.
