Greenville, SC - The Fine Arts Center (FAC) was recently named an Exemplary School by the Arts Schools Network (ASN) Board of Directors. This prestigious achievement is a five-year designation, awarded 2023-2028. ASN, the nation’s largest professional membership organization of specialized arts schools, awards their Exemplary School designations to members that follow a specific guide to evaluate the school's achievements. Through ‘A Guide to Assessing Your Arts School’, The FAC was evaluated based on the school’s purpose, operations and education programs. The FAC will be presented this award during the ASN 2023 Annual Conference, in Birmingham, Alabama.
The Fine Arts Center (FAC), established in 1974 as the first specialized arts school in SC, serves as a model for arts education. The FAC is part of the Greenville County Schools (GCS), which was established in 1952 and is the largest school district in South Carolina, serving approximately 77,500 students. The FAC’s mission is to prepare dedicated students for 21st-century careers through rigorous, pre-professional arts training in a dynamic, inclusive, collaborative learning community. As an arts-centered program, the Fine Arts Center introduces students to the possibilities of a life in the arts, and gives them the tools to pursue it.
