EP+Co Employee Creates “BLKGVL” – A Community Resource to Celebrate and Support Black-Owned Businesses in Greenville

‘BLKGVL’ was recently launched and was conceived, created and built by Walker Reed at advertising agency EP+Co. BLKGVL was created as a community resource to celebrate and support Black-owned businesses in Greenville, so that they can continue to flourish. The growing online directory is designed to help locals and visitors alike find new favorite businesses, from food and drink, to retail and professional services. Anyone in the community is able to add a business that they know and love, so that others can find and support.

While the site is relatively new, it is already gaining some traction and has been shared by various local Black groups and the Greenville Chamber, garnering an additional 120 businesses submitted by the community.

Walker said, regarding the project: “It often feels like there is an overwhelming number of things that need to be done to bring racial equality, but this felt like a small, helpful thing that I could do for our city. My hope is that it will help others find their own small step, create a practical opportunity to meet and support a neighbor, and help us all continue forward towards change.”
