GREENVILLE, S.C. – Talented singer, songwriter, and Greenville native, Edwin McCain will reunite with the Greenville Symphony Orchestra for another special, one-night only Valentine-themed pops concert, “A Musical Valentine” on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. at The Peace Center.
“A Musical Valentine” will feature some of the most romantic music from Broadway, including medleys from Lerner & Loewe’s “My Fair Lady,” Cole Porter’s “Kiss Me Kate,” the Overtures to Gershwin’s “Crazy for You” and “Beauty and the Beast,” as well as the music of Duke Ellington, all performed by the Greenville Symphony Orchestra (GSO) under the baton of Music Director and Conductor, Maestro Edvard Tchivzhel. Complementing the GSO will be selections by Edwin McCain and his band, who will sing several ballads, including his famous hits, “I’ll Be” and “I Could Not Ask for More.”
Called the “great American romantic” by The New York Times, Edwin McCain has built an enviable career over the past twenty years by balancing massive pop success with the year-round touring schedule of a tireless troubadour. After recording two of the biggest love songs in the history of pop music, McCain now performs upwards of 100 shows annually throughout the U.S. as a solo artist, with his full band or his acoustic trio. Recently, he’s added orchestras to his repertoire, performing with symphonies in select markets where he brings his powerful songs to majestic new heights.
“The Greenville Symphony Orchestra is thrilled to once again reunite one of the Southeast’s premiere orchestras with one of the most popular acoustic singer, songwriter and musicians of our generation, Edwin McCain – who is also a native son of Greenville,” said Greenville Symphony Orchestra Executive Director, Julianne M. Fish. “A Musical Valentine offers a unique blending of contemporary love songs with timeless, symphonic scores that promises a romantic evening to enchant all Valentines, both young, and young at heart.”
