Duo to Perform Recital at NGU

Ida Bieler, violin, and Allison Gagnon, piano, will perform works by Mendelssohn, Suk, and Brahms in a recital at NGU on Tuesday, January 29, 2019.

Tigerville, SC (January 24, 2019) North Greenville University presents Ida Bieler, violin, and Allison Gagnon, piano, in recital Tuesday, January 29, 2019. Bieler and Gagnon will perform works by Mendelssohn, Suk, and Brahms.

American-born Bieler has set a standard in the course of her unusual career as a musician of extraordinary scope. Launched into recognition winning international violin competitions on three continents, she since has enjoyed a concert career as soloist and chamber musician in major music capitals and festivals throughout the world.

One of the most sought-after teachers today, Bieler is professor at the Robert
Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf, Germany, the Kunstuniversität Graz, Austria and the
North Carolina School of the Arts, USA. She received Germany’s highest educational
award, Ideen für die Bildungsrepublik, for her innovative Vivaldi Projekt.

Canadian pianist, Gagnon directs the Collaborative Piano Program at UNCSA, and concertizes with vocal and instrumental colleagues both here and beyond. Before joining UNCSA in 1998 she was affiliated with both Queen’s University and McGill University in Canada, and with the Meadowmount School of Music in New York for almost 20 years. She has received a UNCSA Excellence in Teaching Award, and serves on the executive board of NCMTA. Dr. Gagnon’s teachers included Anne Epperson (CIM), Dale Bartlett (McGill), Michael Krist (Vienna Hochschule für Musik), Pierre Jasmin and Margaret McLellan (Queen’s) and her mother Marjorie Gagnon. From CIM she holds the Brooks Smith Award for collaborative piano.
