Dr. John Hart, local chiropractor won first place in his age group (male 60-64) in the Prisma 5k race held this last Saturday (2-23-19), finishing the 3.1 mile race in 24 minutes, 47 seconds.
At the age of 62, Hart is an avid runner and plans to get faster with age in future races. In this way, Hart’s advice to his patients, to live a healthy lifestyle, is backed by his walking the walk (or in this case, running the run).
Tests of health where runners tend to shine are tests that Dr. Hart also uses in his practice at 1314 Pelham Road in Greenville. These tests include resting heart rate and heart rate variability. Research indicates that people showing good results with these tests tend to, for example, live longer than their counterparts whose tests are not as good.
Dr. Hart recently had a study published (on 2-26-19) on a group of his patients where heart rate variability was used. The study was published in an international peer-reviewed science journal (cited below) and showed that following his spinal adjustment, the patients’ heart rate variability improved.
