McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture is pleased to announce David Moore’s recent elevation to Fellow in the American Institute of Architects (FAIA). Established in 1952, the College of Fellows is comprised of members of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), and is one of the most highly regarded honors of the AIA. The distinction signifies the profound and lasting impact an Architect has had in the industry and society.
David has almost 30 years of experience, working almost exclusively with higher education and library clients. His expertise and focus on the planning and design of over 130 public and academic libraries has positioned him as a nationally recognized thought leader and subject matter expert. He has pioneered, advanced and shared a Road Map methodology for library master planning that empowers public and academic libraries nationwide with hope for re-envisioning and re-defining print-based repositories into community-centered learning environments. This methodology incorporates a phased implementation strategy that equips libraries with the necessary flexibility to effect change in meaningful ways, has become an industry standard nationwide, and has also become an expected deliverable in library master plan solicitations across the country. David has shared his knowledge on this topic through various conference presentations, workshops, webinars, published articles, and in 2018, co-authored the book, Planning Optimal Library Spaces: Principles, Processes and Practices.
“David’s commitment to advancing the practice and knowledge of library design is evidenced by his work across the country,” states Karen Calhoun, Principal and Vice President of Business Development at McMillan Pazdan Smith. “By openly sharing his expertise, David has equipped libraries and fellow design professionals with the tools to transform their institutions by increasing capacity, efficiency, and functionality to better serve their community’s needs.”
