Greenwood, SC – The Countybank Foundation made a gift of $5,000 to support the Greenwood Genetic Center (GGC) Foundation’s ‘GGC Cares Fund’. This fund provides financial assistance for genetic evaluations, testing, and treatment for families who are uninsured or under-insured.
“The Countybank Foundation proudly supports organizations throughout the Upstate of South Carolina that are involved in important work that support our community,” said Countybank Senior Vice President and Greenwood Market Executive, David Tompkins. “We are honored to support the Greenwood Genetic Center and provide financial assistance for families who are in need of the tremendous expertise and support that they provide.”
“Navigating a new diagnosis is challenging enough; families should not be stressed about funding testing or treatments,” said Walter Todd, President and CIO for Greenwood Capital. “We know the GGC Cares Fund is a critical support to people in our community who are facing genetic diseases or birth defects.”
“Since our founding in 1974, GGC has worked hard to ensure that genetics services are accessible and available to all who need them,” said Cady Nell Keener, Executive Director of the GGC Foundation. “Through the GGC Cares Fund and the generosity of partners like the Countybank Foundation, we can ensure that finances are not a barrier for families accessing these vital genetic tests or life-changing treatments.”
