Greenwood, S.C. — Countybank and Greenwood Capital associates recently showed up in mass to play ball and volunteer for Greenwood Miracle League’s spring season. The baseball league is managed by the Burton Center and gives children with special needs and disabilities in Greenwood and surrounding counties an opportunity to play.
“Greenwood Miracle League has become a regular volunteer opportunity for Countybank and Greenwood Capital associates to get involved and support the local community,” said Denise H. Lollis, Chief Operating Officer for Greenwood Capital. “We have a long history of aiding the Miracle League’s mission through volunteer work and financial donations.”
Greenwood Miracle League is supported by donations from local businesses and individuals, and last year the Countybank Foundation, representing Countybank and Greenwood Capital, provided a donation to support Greenwood Miracle League. This year Lollis presented a donation on behalf of the Countybank Foundation for $2,500, which will go toward replacing the baseball field for children with physical and mental disabilities.
“Every child deserves the chance to play baseball,” says Joel Smart, Miracle League Volunteer Coordinator and Employment First Supervisor for the Burton Center.
“Countybank and Greenwood Capital help us achieve that through their donations and associates’ willingness to work with and play alongside children as buddies during the games.”
