City of Greer Unveils Litter Prevention Mascot

GREER, SC – The City of Greer is proud to announce a new mascot which will serve as an ambassador for litter prevention across the City of Greer.

Bailey the Fox is named after Greer’s first mayor, William C. Bailey. The City Communications Department put a call for art out to the community in its search for a rendition of Bailey that would serve as a reminder to residents and visitors to properly dispose of trash.

Ramsie Day Maycock, owner of the Comet Agency in Greenville, was selected as the winner of the competition. Her rendering of Bailey will be used from here on out by the City in its litter prevention and environmental beautification efforts.

“The City of Greer is committed to being a leader when it comes to protecting our environment,” said Mayor Rick Danner. “Litter prevention is something everyone in our community can help with. From large efforts like organizing a clean-up, to small gestures like throwing your trash in a bin instead of on the ground, we can all make a difference together. We hope the visual representation of Bailey will help people remember the importance of keeping our community clean.”

The announcement of the mascot comes on the heels of the placement of an environmental sculpture in Greer City Park through a partnership with Palmetto Pride.
