Tournament officials honor longtime volunteer lead, Nancy Smith, as the Korn Ferry Tour’s national 2019 Volunteer of the Year

(GREENVILLE, S.C.) – Dec. 10, 2019 – Volunteer applications to participate in the 2020 BMW Charity Pro-Am Presented by SYNNEX Corporation officially opened to the public today online at during the tournament’s annual volunteer appreciation golfing event at Thornblade Club. The 2020 tournament takes place June 1-7 at Thornblade Club and The Cliffs Valley.

“For two decades, the BMW Charity Pro-Am has enabled the Upstate to sparkle in the national spotlight, highlighting our community’s exceptional spirit of charitable giving, volunteerism, outstanding hospitality and top-notch golf culture,” said Bob Nitto, president of the BMW Charity Pro-Am Presented by SYNNEX Board of Directors. “The tournament has become a world-class event thanks in large part to the nearly 1,000 volunteers who help bring the BMW Charity Pro-Am to life each year.”

This year, the BMW Charity Pro-Am volunteer program received national recognition when the Korn Ferry Tour named longtime tournament volunteer Nancy Smith as its 2019 Volunteer of the Year.
At a recognition ceremony during today’s volunteer kickoff event at Thornblade Club, Smith remarked, “From the beginning, the BMW Charity Pro-Am has provided an exciting and memorable week for our volunteers, fans, sponsors and players as we raise money for charities in our community. It’s one of the most rewarding and exciting volunteer opportunities in the Upstate, and we’re looking forward to making the 20th anniversary our best year yet.”

The 2020 tournament will once again feature a military and first responders weekend, supporting the Upstate Warrior Solution and the Palmetto State Chapter of Folds of Honor, while continuing to raise bonus dollars through the ongoing Birdies for Charity program, which enables donors to make a one-time flat donation or pledge one cent or more per birdie during the tournament.
