Ayla Ferrone has joined the City of Greer as Community and Media Outreach Coordinator, completing a makeover of the city's Communications Office.
“Our commitment to City of Greer residents was to offer the most professional and up-to-date office, producing timely news and events to share through photography and video on cityofgreer.org and social media accounts,” Communications Manager Steve Owens said. “Adding professional videographer Joel Eaves earlier this year was the first step, and bringing Ayla on board with her multiple talents is the final piece of the communications puzzle.”
In addition to coordinating with news media and covering news stories in Greer, Ayla will assume responsibility for the Neighborhood Services Program which seeks to better connect City of Greer departments with its residents to improve understanding of local government services.
Ayla comes to the City of Greer after covering local news in the Upstate and beyond for nearly a decade, most recently as a reporter and weekend anchor for WSPA-TV. Before moving to the Upstate, Ayla lived in Albany, N.Y., Monroe, La., and started her career in journalism in Binghamton, N.Y.
A native of Syracuse, N.Y., she received her undergraduate degree from Ithaca College and recently finished her Master’s degree in Homeland Security from Tulane University. Ayla lives in Greenville with her husband and their dog Gatsby, where she enjoys spending her free time running, exploring the Upstate with friends, and traveling.
