The Upstate American Heart Association (AHA) is excited to announce the launch of a new campaign called “Leaders for Life”. The Leaders for Life initiative engages young professionals to compete in a 4-week fundraising campaign that will help further the organization’s work in the Upstate community.
Five local changemakers have been selected to take part in this year’s campaign. These individuals were nominated by the American Heart Association’s local Board of Directors and the Upstate Heart Ball Executive Leadership Team.
The 2022 Leaders for Life nominees are:
Alex Dahlstrom, Northwestern Mutual
Carl Hocker, Reedy Property Group
Jennifer Jones, PricewaterhouseCoopers Advisory Services LLC
Maggie Joyner, Berkshire Hathaway
Anna Catherine Miller, City of Greenville
Beginning April 15, these individuals will work to raise funds while engaging their networks in opportunities to directly impact the health of the Upstate. Funds raised will support the association’s 2024 Impact Goal which aims to advance cardiovascular health for all, including identifying and removing barriers to health care access and quality. Currently, the AHA is working with local stakeholders and community partners to address barriers and inequities around blood pressure, tobacco and vaping, and nutrition security.
“We are thrilled to have these incredible leaders as part of our inaugural Leaders for Life campaign” said Kelly Wilkins, Executive Director with the American Heart Association. “Cardiovascular diseases remain the no. 1 killer in the Upstate. That’s what it’s incredibly important we engage a new generation of volunteers who are passionate about making a lasting impact on their community”.
The Leaders for Life winner will be announced at the Upstate Heart Ball on May 21 at the Greenville Convention Center. For more information about this campaign or to donate to one of the candidates, please visit https://rb.gy/8v31xf.
